Nature-based approaches — known as dynamic revetment — by the Pacific Conservation District and other stakeholders to control erosion on Willapa Bay’s north shore received a shot in the arm last year when it won a $12.7 million NOAA grant to install a large-scale and long-term erosion reduction and beach restoration project. An experimental prototype installed earlier this decade has helped combat erosion across 1.5 miles of shore.
