VFW Post 8956 and the Ocean Shores Fire Department have announced a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to pay tribute to those who lost their lives that fateful day, and honor the heroes who gave so much in the days that followed.
Twenty-four years have passed since the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation, our world and our hearts. The shock and devastation we felt on that day will never be forgotten, but it is the strength, courage and resilience of the American people that continue to inspire us.
In remembrance of those we lost, and in honor of the brave men and women who made heroic sacrifices, VFW Post 8956 and the Ocean Shores Fire Department invite you to attend a special ceremony starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 at the Ocean Shores Fire Department, 585 Point Brown Ave. NE.
Westport veterans to hold 9/11 remembrance walk
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3057 and American Legion Post 140 and their auxiliaries, both of Westport, will host a 9/11 Remembrance Walk on Thursday.
The walk will begin at 11 a.m. at the Grays Harbor Lighthouse and will go the VFW’s Gen. James H. Doolittle building on 211 Pacific Avenue.
The hike is less than a mile. Good walking shoes are encouraged. Police will block intersections as they walk, and there will be a small event at the conclusion of the walk.
Anyone needing a ride back to their vehicles at the lighthouse will receive one.
