Cheryl Lynn Espedal of Aberdeen, died on Sept. 28, 2023, with her family by her side. She was 54 years old.

Cheryl was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on July 18, 1969, to Frederick Mikal Espedal and Beverly Ann (Fetsch) Espedal. She joined an older sister, Linda, and brother, Gary. She was a lifelong member of the United Christian Church and was deeply rooted in her faith. Cheryl graduated from Aberdeen High School with the class of 1987. She attended Grays Harbor College, graduating with an Associate in Applied Science, Secretarial Science.

Upon graduation Cheryl worked at various jobs through Kelly Girl Services. She also volunteered at Grays Harbor Community Hospital Gift Shop, the St. Joseph Hospital Activity Department, and also spent time reading with young students at Robert Gray and Alexander Young Elementary Schools. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Aberdeen Timberland Library and Grays Harbor Tourism Center.

Cheryl’s interests included going to the movies, supporting her nephews at their sporting events, reading, and attending family gatherings. She loved the holidays and summer picnics with family which always included Aunt Marie Danielson and Cousin Chris Danielson of Bothell. She was faithful in her attendance at weekly Bible studies as well as church services on Sundays.

Cheryl enjoyed spending time on her patio during the spring and summer watching her flowers flourish. In earlier years she enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Disneyland and Cannon Beach. And she loved the color purple.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Beverly Espedal. She is survived by her sister, Linda Vincent, brother, Gary Espedal (Maureen); nephew Curtis Espedal (K’Leigh) and their children Walker and Wade Espedal; nephew Craig Espedal (Brittany) and their children Easton and Karrter Espedal.

Special thanks to Cheryl’s caregivers, doctors and medical personnel. She faced many challenges through her life and was well supported by her medical team. Those who truly knew Cheryl were inspired by her faith, courage, determination and strong will to fight.

A funeral service is set for Monday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at the United Christian Church, 300 W First Street, Aberdeen, WA 98520.
