Patricia K. Pella

Patricia K. Pella died after a long illness April 19, 2024, at her home in Hoquiam. She was 80. Pat was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on June 14th, 1943, to Othel and Edith Castor. When her parents, along with her 6 older siblings, moved to Hoquiam, Washington in 1946 Pat was 3 years old.

Shortly after graduating from Hoquiam High in 1961, Pat moved to Seattle where she worked at Boeing as a secretary and administrative assistant. She met David Pella in Seattle, and they were wed in 1968, with their only child Vincent born in 1970.

Shortly after Vincent’s birth, Pat and David moved back to Hoquiam, where she remained for the rest of her life.

After David’s death in 1990, Pat sought solace in helping others, working at Evergreen Legal Service for many years, as well as volunteering with multiple charities and organizations, particularly those that benefited animals.

Pat loved the Seahawks, reading, gardening, cheeseburgers from Humdinger, playing games on her Kindle, the Deadpool movies, and, due to her non-judgmental nature, acting as a source of advice, humor and comfort for friends, relatives and neighbors.

She also loved her rescue dog Jasper, who was her constant companion for nearly 13 years until his death in 2021, and she could often be found taking care of other animals in the neighborhood, stray or otherwise.

Pat is survived by her son Vincent, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Edith and Othel, husband David, and siblings Margaret, Clarence, Wanda, Jean, Wayne and JoAnn.

A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. A celebration of life will be at 1 PM on May 13, 2024, at Ashley’s Pub Haus (patio) in Hoquiam. If you would like to remember Pat with a donation, please consider donating to your local PAWS or Humane Society.
