Ocosta girls season ends with district loss

Ocosta girls season ends with loss to Mossyrock

CASTLE ROCK — A flurry of turnovers brought Ocosta’s girls basketball season to an end in a 61-43 loss to Mossyrock in the District IV Class 2B Tournament on Wednesday night at Castle Rock.

The Wildcats (17-7) stayed within striking distance for much of the way. But the Vikings used turnovers to fuel their transition game. Ocosta finished with 26 turnovers.

Wildcats head coach Jason Banrum said it was frustrating to lose a game that was in reach.

“One of the games where we could never really get it going, it seemed like we would score four or five and they would score four or five,” he said. “Just one of those games you wish you could re-do.”

Erika Snider scored 13 points and Kristi Raffelson 12 for the Wildcats.

Banrum also added that he was proud of what his young team accomplished and is confident the team will make a deeper run next year.
