Grays Harbor College’s Chad Allan takes job as Hoquiam girls basketball coach

Chad Allan is going from leading the Grays Harbor College women’s basketball program to taking over as the Hoquiam girls head coach.

Allan, who was already helping to coach track and field at Hoquiam, was brought on to coach the Grizzlies girls basketball team last week, replacing Denny Hinchen, whose team went 7-12 in his only season at the head of the program..

“We’re really excited to move forward with Chad Allan as our head coach,” Hoquiam athletic director Annette Duvall said. “I’m looking forward to having him and his staff on board.”

Before accepting the coaching position at Hoquiam, Allan coached at Grays Harbor College for five seasons and led the Chokers to two Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament appearances.

Despite getting the program’s first NWAC tournament victory last season, Allan announced the coaching change via Twitter on April 29.

“At this time, the college and I do not hold the same vision,” he Tweeted. “I am grateful for all who supported my players.”
