Weekend Roundup: Aberdeen softball takes district crown

Also: Little League scores; 1A Softball All-Tournament Team named

A group of Aberdeen all-star softball players battled back from the brink of elimination to win the Cascade League’s 12 and under district championship on Sunday, June 26 at the Bishop Sports Complex in Aberdeen.

The Little League all-stars opened district play on Saturday, June 25 with a pair of close losses, falling 15-10 to Hoquiam and 17-16 to Willapa Harbor.

But Aberdeen responded on Sunday, defeating Willapa Harbor 19-9 followed by a 22-10 win over Hoquiam in the title game.

Here is the all-tournament team for the 1A State Tournament that took place in late May in Centralia.

Hoquiam pitcher Carron Blood was named to the team as the only Harbor athlete to make the list.
