Montesano 5, Rochester 1
Top-ranked Montesano opened a 1A Evergreen League doubleheader against Rochester with a win on Tuesday in Montesano.
The Bulldogs (18-2 overall, 11-1 1A Evergreen) took a 2-0 first-inning lead on RBI singles by shortstop Tyson Perry and second baseman Zach Timmons.
Monte added to its lead with two in the bottom of the sixth on a Perry RBI triple and a run on a single by Caden Grubb.
The Warriors (9-8, 6-6) scored a run in the top of the sixth on a single by Colton Weiss, but Monte got the run back in the bottom of the frame when first baseman Kole Kjesbu reached on an error and later came in to score on Rochester’s second error of the inning.
Kolson Hendrickson earned the win, allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts in 6 1-3 innings pitched.
Timmons got the final two outs – one via a strikeout – to secure the win.
Perry and Timmons had two hits apiece to lead the Monte offense.

Montesano 13, Rochester 11
Montesano rallied from down five runs to complete the twin-bill sweep with a 13-11 win over Rochester in the nightcap.
Monte fell behind 8-3 after three-and-a-half innings of play before taking the lead with a seven-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Tyson Perry drove in a pair with a double followed by a run on an error and a bases-loaded walk to Colton Grubb to pull the Bulldogs to within a run at 8-7.
Kolson Hendrickson stepped to the plate and hit a ground-ball single to center, scoring Zach Timmons and Grubb with the tying and go-ahead runs.
A sacrifice fly from Carter Ames put Monte up 10-8 at the end of the fourth.
Rochester regained the lead with three runs in the fifth with the Bulldogs tying the game at 11-11 when Perry scored on a Caden Grubb single in the bottom of the inning.
Monte took the lead for good in the sixth when, with two outs and nobody one, the Bulldogs scored two runs on a walk, a hit batter and a two-run single by Colton Grubb.
Caden Grubb worked around a one-out single to strikeout the final two batters of the game an seal Monte’s second victory of the day.
Four Montesano pitchers combined to allow seven earned runs on nine hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.
Caden Grubb earned the win, allowing an earned run on two hits and five strikeouts in three innings pitched.
Colton Grubb went 3 for 3 with three RBI while Perry had two doubles and scored three runs to lead the Montesano offense.
The Bulldogs will enter postseason as the 1A Evergreen League’s No. 1 seed and will play in the 1A District 4 Tournament at 6 p.m. on Monday in Hoquiam.

Aberdeen 12, Centralia 2
Aberdeen completed the season sweep over Centralia with a 12-2 mercy-rule win over Centralia on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
The Bobcats (10-8, 7-7) took advantage of Tigers (1-19, 1-13) mistakes to score seven runs in the bottom of the first, capped by Mylan Bruner crossing the plate on a passed ball for a 7-1 lead.
Aberdeen added five runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Chad Fretts and a two-run, inside-the-park home run by Gabe Matthews for a 12-2 lead.
Fretts earned the win, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in two innings pitched.
Matthews (2 IP, 0R, 0H, BB, 2K) and Trevon Maynard (IP, 0R, H, K) pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the Cats.
Matthews had three hits, scored two runs and drove in three for an Aberdeen offense that had seven different players collect a base hit in the game.
The Bobcats close out the regular season against W.F. West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in Aberdeen.

Hoquiam failed to produce any runs against Tenino in a 14-0 loss in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday in Tenino.
The Grizzlies (3-14, 0-12) were held without a hit in the five-inning loss and fell behind 11-0 after Tenino (15-5, 8-4) scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Three Grizzlies pitchers combined to allow seven earned runs on 10 hits and six walks with four strikeouts.
Five Hoquiam errors led to seven unearned runs for the Beavers.

Hoquiam had a near carbon-copy loss in the second game of a doubleheader against Tenino, losing 14-0 in five innings.
Like in the first game, Hoquiam’s offense was held with out a hit, its only offense coming from five walks and two hit batters.
The Grizzlies defense allowed six runs in the bottom of the second and eight runs in the fourth in the loss, with four Hoquiam errors leading to seven unearned runs for the Beavers.
Ethan Byron took the loss, allowing nine earned runs on eight hits and four walks with a strikeout in 3 1-3 innings pitched.
Nico Bretz allowed four runs – none earned – on one hit and two walks with a strikeout in 2-3 innings of relief.
Hoquiam hosts Ilwaco at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
