Wishkah Valley resident, Shirley Ann Coady, passed away peacefully at Channel Point Village on Jan. 25, 2026. She was 88 years old.
Shirley was born on Feb. 12, 1937, in Hastings, Nebraska, to parents Robert Cole and Helen (Krueger) Cole. When Shirley was young, she and her family moved from Blue Hill, Nebraska, to Aberdeen. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1955 and later that same year, she married Denny Walton Coady in Aberdeen. Shirley was affectionately known as “Grandma Shirl” to the school children, and even had the pleasure of serving their children later on. She enjoyed many hobbies including needlework and playing pinochle and cribbage with her family and friends. Shirley was also musically talented. She bought a cello and began taking lessons, playing the same cello her entire life.
