Public forum to discuss options for Wishkah Valley flood prevention

Study released showing costs and benefits of different flood relief plans

Wishkah Valley residents can hear about and discuss the results of the Wishkah Road Comprehensive Flood study at a workshop at Robert Gray Elementary Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Chehalis River Basin Flood Authority provided the study and is hosting the workshop. The study analyzes the costs and benefits at several areas prone to regular flooding along the Wishkah River and Wishkah Road, including a proposed half-mile long levee at Baretich Flats between mileposts 2.2 and 2.7.

There are four other points of emphasis in the study, including the Ellison Dip at milepost 3.8, Long Swamp at milepost 5.0, Monarch Creek at milepost 5.8, and Vienna Tracts at milepost 7.6.
