The Port of Grays Harbor and Westport’s Fresh Catch, a community effort to promote local seafood, are pleased to announce Walking Tours of the Westport Marina, including two Saturday tours again this year.
As the number one seafood landing port in the state of Washington, the Westport Marina is the hub of commercial and recreational fishing on Washington’s coast. For over a decade, Westport has ranked in the top 20 U.S. ports for both volume and value of seafood landed.
Beyond fishing, Westport’s tourism industry is thriving due to an array of outdoor recreational opportunities. Westport is also the only designated “Coast Guard City USA” in the state.
The 90-minute tour will feature a marina overview, followed by visits with commercial fishermen, seafood processors, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife enforcement, the Westport Maritime Museum and a visit to the Westport viewing tower.
“We’re excited to welcome visitors to experience everything the marina district has to offer,” said Molly Bold, general manager of Westport Marina. “Whether you’re drawn by the energy of our commercial seafood operations, the thrill of recreational fishing, or the rich maritime history of our town, there’s something here for everyone. With exciting plans for modernization underway, it’s the perfect time to explore, learn, and connect with the heart of Westport.”
Walking tours of the Westport Marina will be offered:
Thursday, Sept. 25: 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 27: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Reservations are required and participants should expect to walk approximately one-half mile during the tour. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are highly recommended. To reserve your spot on a walking tour, contact the Westport Marina office at 360-533-9562 or marina@portgrays.org, or by visiting Westport’s Fresh Catch Facebook page.
