One victim identified in fatal McCleary house fire

Jessyca Warness, 25

Dental records have confirmed the woman who died in a house fire in McCleary on Thursday is Jessyca Warness, 25, according to County Coroner Lane Youmans.

Youmans said his office is still awaiting the dental charts for the male victim so he can also be positively identified. The cause of death has not yet been determined or released for either victim, both of whom were autopsied Saturday. Sheriff’s Office Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate said as of Tuesday morning there is no indication yet of foul play, stressing that the investigation is still in its very early stages.

The fire on Elma-Hicklin Road East started in a carport attached to the residence but quickly spread to the main house and destroyed it.

The two bodies were discovered after the fire had been brought under control. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the cause and nature of the fire with assistance from the Aberdeen and Hoquiam police departments and the Grays Harbor County Drug Task Force.
