Celebrate with Sunshine April 2

Screening of ‘dogumentary’ “A Chance of Sunshine” with film’s makers

The story of Sunshine, a dog at Gentle Paws Hospice and Sanctuary north of Hoquiam that touched the hearts of people across the community and beyond, will be featured in a “dogumentary” film April 2 at Harbor House Writers in Aberdeen.

Sunshine was maimed as a pup by someone who cut off her hind legs. Gentle Paws created a GoFundMe page to pay for prosthetic legs. The fundraiser reached people around the world and wound up raising more than $10,000. Sunshine got her new legs in late January.

The GoFundMe campaign featured a short film about Sunshine produced by Seattle filmmaker Tyson Rowley. He is the same man behind “A Chance of Sunshine,” which will air on a loop April 2 between 3 and 5 p.m. at Harbor House Writers, 510 W. First St. in Aberdeen.

The event is free.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Rowley, as well as Sunshine herself and her family. Local songwriter Wil Russoul will perform his song “Sunshine,” which he wrote about the dog’s story.
