District 2A meet

LONGVIEW — Aberdeen swimmers will be represented in four events in today’s championship finals of the District IV Class 2A meet at the Mark Morris pool in Longview.

After preliminaries Friday, eight Bobcats advanced to either the championship or consolation finals of the two-day meet. The top six qualifiers in each event will compete in the championship finals, with the next six competing in the consolation finals.

Aberdeen junior Trevor Mullin advanced to the championship finals in two events. He qualified fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke and sixth in the 200 individual medley.

Junior Conner Gates qualified sixth in the 50 freestyle and senior Sage Bridges sixth in the 100 butterfly.

The top two in each event (plus those who meet time standards) advance to the state 2A championship meet next weekend at Federal Way.

“I’m very happy how this first day turned out,” Bobcat head coach Rob Burns said. “This is a very fast meet and we were on a par with many of the teams here. Trevor had a phenomenal day in the pool and I expect great things from him on Saturday. Conner is in a great spot in the 50 free, which is his best event, and Sage put down a solid effort to get into the main finals of the 100 fly.”
