Aberdeen approves preliminary engineering for roundabout

The Aberdeen City Council is moving forward with development of a planned roundabout located at the three-way intersection of East Market Street, F Street, and Fuller Way.

At Wednesday night’s council meeting, the council approved a report that allows Aberdeen Mayor Erik Larson to sign a contract with Shea Carr & Jewell Inc. for the preliminary engineering phase of the roundabout, for a price of $171,872.

During the meeting, council member Dee Anne Shaw noted that $143,000 of that contract would be covered by grant funding.

In previous meetings, council members have explained that the intersection has a history of vehicle accidents due to how Fuller Way intersects with Market Street just before the normal four-way intersection with F Street.
