Tyson Perry’s extra-inning RBI hit sends Monte to loser’s-bracket final

Montesano’s 13-and-under all-star team advanced in the Little League Intermediate state tournament with a rousing 9-8 walk-off victory over Bellevue on Thursday in Des Moines.

In a close game that took three extra innings to decide, Tyson Perry’s single in the bottom of the ninth scored the winning run to give Montesano a 9-8 victory and a spot in the losers bracket final.

Perry was also the winning pitcher on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Colton Grubb started on the mound for Montesano, allowing four runs on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk in his 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Monte collected six hits in the game, with Perry (2-4, RBI) and Carter Ames (2-5, run, 2 RBI) accounting for two hits apiece.

With the victory, Montesano advances to the losers bracket final at 6 p.m. on Friday for a chance to advance to the state championship series.
