Grays Harbor College’s women’s wrestling team opens season at Mountaineer Open in Oregon

Ureste and Kauffman-Templeton win weight classes to lead Chokers

The Grays Harbor College’s women’s wrestling team kicked off its season on Sunday, Nov. 5 by competing at the Mountaineer Women’s Open on the campus of Easton Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon.

The Chokers had two wrestlers win their respective weight classes.

GHC’s Renaeh Ureste won by a 10-0 technical fall over Eastern Oregon’s Trinity Tafoya to take the top spot in the 191-pound weight class.

Grays Harbor’s Alexandria Kauffman-Templeton defeated Evergreen State College’s Ellabelle Taylor via fall at 1:06 to take the 123-pound title.

In addition to Ureste and Kauffman-Templeton, four additional Chokers grapplers placed in the top three of their weight class. Georgia Ustaszewski placed second at 170 pounds followed by third-place finishes from Aliya Hammons (109), Courtney Jones (143) and Elizabeth Patana (136).

The meet consisted of wrestlers from eight different universities, junior colleges and wrestling clubs, including Washington State University.
