Choker women trounce Green River

Alexia Thrower and Sandin Kidder recorded double-doubles as the Grays Harbor College women retained their lead in the NWAC Western Division with an 81-50 rout of Green River Community College on Saturday at the GHC gym.

Thrower had 22 points and 16 rebounds, while Kidder contributed 21 points and 14 boards for the Chokers (12-1, 24-2) clinched no worse than a share of their first division championship. They’ll close out the regular season at South Puget Sound on Wednesday.

The Chokers broke things open against cellar-dwelling Green River with a 26-point second quarter that produced a 45-19 halftime lead. The Gators suited up only six players.

Kidder also handed out six assists and Estelle Wilson added five assists for GHC.

Gators 77, Chokers 68

Green River’s men used superior long-range shooting to beat Grays Harbor College in an NWAC Western Division contest Saturday at the GHC gym.

Field goals were even at 25, but the Gators hit nine 3-point baskets, while the Chokers were only 5-of-17 from beyond the arc.

Caleb Thomas scored 18 points and Guy Bean 14 for the Chokers (1-12, 4-23).

The Chokers conclude their season Wednesday at South Puget Sound.
