Sandra Beatrice Simpson, 78, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, in Eugene, Oregon.

Sandy was born on July 16, 1942, to Alice Pearl (Glidden) and Jack William House in Aberdeen, Washington. She was raised in Grays Harbor, graduated from Foster High School in Tukwila, and later Grays Harbor College as a Registered Nurse. Sandy worked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, St. Peter Hospital, Providence hospitals in Vancouver and Medford, and Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, California, as a critical care registered nurse, before retiring from Providence as a utilization review nurse.

In 1958, Sandy met Guy Simpson, at the Harborena skating rink in Hoquiam, Washington, and on Feb. 21, 1959 they were married. They celebrated their 45th anniversary, just prior to his death in 2004. During the 1960s they had five children—all boys, Raymond William Simpson, Randy Guy Simpson, Guy Taylor Simpson, Jr., Gary Ira Simpson, and Micheal Edward Simpson.

Sandy dedicated her life to the care and raising of her boys. Her ability to wrangle, clothe, and feed five rambunctious boys allowed for her artistic abilities to shine. She made clothes, did elaborate embroidery work, made stuffed toys, and mended torn garments and tattered hearts for her sons. Art and music were passions for her, she played piano, organ, violin, and the accordion. She and her husband were prolific square dancers, she made all their matching outfits, over the years they danced with the Harbor Haylofters and at the Lac-a-Do Hall in Olympia. Sandy loved to travel, go camping, and spend time with her family and friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, brother William House, and husband Guy Simpson, Sr. She is survived by brother Laron House and sister-in-law Jenny House of Cosmopolis, Washington; sister Sally Holt and brother-in-law Larry Holt of Cosmopolis, Washington; son Raymond Simpson and daughter-in-law Bobbie Prang of Salem, Oregon; son Randy Simpson and daughter-in-law Suzi Simpson of Rainier, Washington; son Guy Simpson, Jr. and daughter-in-law Rae Simpson of Rainier, Washington; son Gary Simpson and daughter-in-law Lily Simpson of Eugene, Oregon; son Micheal Simpson and daughter-in-law Tracey Simpson of Olympia, Washington; granddaughter Taylor Barnes and grandson-in-law Nathan Barnes of Rainier, Washington; granddaughter Kathryn Byers and grandson-in-law Nicholas Byers, great-grandsons; Jackson, Bennett, and Michael Byers of Rainier, Washington; grandson Guy III of West Seattle, Washington; granddaughter Kimberly Kenyon and grandson-in-law Brandon Kenyon of Tumwater, Washington; granddaughter Kassandra Simpson of Rainier, Washington; grandson Jayden Reynolds and granddaughter-in-law Hannah Reynolds of Olympia; grandson Terran Simpson of Olympia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and others too numerous to list.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Elma, followed by a celebration of life at 2:30 p.m. at the Montesano Moose Lodge. She will be interred alongside her husband at the Satsop Cemetery.
