Lorraine Shirley (Spoon) Christensen passed away Aug. 4, 2022, at 87. She was the eldest of five children, born in Winnett, Montana on March 23, 1935, to Glen and Elma Spoon (deceased).

The family moved to Westport, Washington, where Lorraine attended elementary school and graduated from Ocosta High School in 1953. Hard working from an early age, she worked in the seafood and hospitality industries in Westport, and Astoria and Warrenton, Oregon while also raising her six children.

She moved to Boise, Idaho where she enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. She worked for the Idaho Auto Dealers Association for many years before returning to Westport in 1997 to be closer to her grandchildren. Never one to sit still, she worked for Westport Windermere Real Estate before retiring at age 82.

Lorraine was an avid sports fan and loved to watch Seattle Mariners baseball. She loved to sew and do crafts, learning to sew at a young age, and was a seamstress her entire life. She sewed beautiful things that brought much joy to her family, friends and even people she didn’t know. She won several state fair ribbons for her meticulous and detailed handmade Barbie Doll clothes. She was also a wonderful baker who won ribbons for her cakes.

Lorraine will be terribly missed by so many. She is survived by two brothers, Gary Spoon (Easton, Washington), and Lloyd Spoon (Apache Junction, Arizona), a sister Marilyn Spoon (Puyallup, Washington), and by six children: Bill Thomas Jr. (Leah Thomas) Tokeland, Washington; Jackie Thomas and Janet Woolum, Tempe, Arizona; Cathy Whitney (Ted Poole), Westport, Washington; Genelle Charette (Michael Wiley), Boise, Idaho; and Scott Charette (Aimee Mascho), Puyallup, Washington. She had six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Monty Spoon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
