Montesano resident, Harlow Benton Parker, passed away at Harbor Regional Health Medical Center on Dec. 5, 2025.

Montesano resident, Harlow Benton Parker, passed away at Harbor Regional Health Medical Center on Dec. 5, 2025, at the age of 89. Harlow was born on Nov. 22, 1936, in Belfourst, North Dakota to parents Hugh and Margaret (Lowery) Parker.

The family moved to the Grays Harbor area in 1954 where Harlow attended Rochester High School. He served in the United States Army and later worked as a log truck driver for over 30 years, until an on-the-job injury forced him to retire in 1982.

Harlow was a member of several organizations including FOE’s Elma Eagles, VFW of Montesano and Hoquiam, The Moose Lodge of Aberdeen and Hoquiam, as well as the Forty et Eight of Aberdeen. He and his wife, Jeanne, enjoyed travelling together and raising money for many different organizations.

Harlow is survived by his daughter Vicki (Jake) Shetler; brothers Jerry Madtson of Aberdeen, Joe Madtson of Shelton, and Mark Madtson of Olympia; sister Hazel Wakefield of Lacey; and one grandson, Cody Bonifer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at 57 Clemons Rd in the cabana. Everyone is welcome to come and share any memories about “Butchie.” Please bring a dish.
