Elma resident Marlys Ann Vessey died at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. She was 86.

Cremation arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Gordon R. Lanning

Longtime Hoquiam resident Gordon Rex Lanning died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was 83.

After his discharge from the U.S. Navy he returned to Hoquiam where he worked for Aberdeen Plywood, Posy Manufacturing, Early Tire and Weyerhaeuser, before working for the city of Hoquiam from 1980 until retiring in 1998.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. A private urn committal with military honors will take place at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Polson Museum.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Ocean Shores resident Robert Patrick Smyth died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at home. He was 98.

Cremation arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.
