Body recovered from the beach on Chinook

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday from a citizen near the water at the end of Third Street. She claimed to have seen what appeared to be a human body that washed up on the beach, according to a Sheriff’s Department release.

Deputies responded a short time later and discovered the body. Deputies are continuing to investigate and will be coordinating with the coroner’s office to help identify the body. Deputies believe that the body had been in the water for an extended period of time due to its condition and state of deterioration.
