The annual maintenance shutdown at Cosmo Specialty Fibers could create some odor issues for the Cosmopolis plant’s neighbors.
The weeklong outage starts Monday, said Craig McKinney, the company’s environmental engineer.
Maintenance includes inspection of the wastewater treatment plant, located at 1201 1st St. There is a possibility of odors from the treatment plant during the shutdown.
“Cosmo Specialty Fibers maintains continuous air monitors in the area and the data from these monitors will be reviewed daily,” said McKinney. “The treatment plant will be refilled as soon as the inspection is complete.”
