Maurice Dale “Grandpa” Bryant, 97 years of age and a longtime Pacific Beach, Wash. area resident, died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in Aberdeen, Wash.

Maurice Dale “Grandpa” Bryant, 97 years of age and a longtime Pacific Beach, Wash. area resident, died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in Aberdeen, Wash. He was born on Jan. 20, 1920, in Greenacres, Wash., to Thomas and Emily (Crocker) Bryant.

Following his schooling, Dale entered the U.S. Navy on Jan. 7, 1942, during World War II, and was discharged on Sept. 13, 1945, at Farragut, Idaho, with the rank of Seaman First Class.

Maurice Dale Bryant was married to Mae Adelaide Overton on May 31, 1945, in Pasco, Wash. They resided in Kennewick, Spokane and then to the Pacific Beach area where he had resided for the past 57 years. He had worked as a shingle weaver for over 50 years.

The couple traveled around Washington and to Oregon to visit relatives and friends. Mr. Bryant loved his family more than anything and he will always be loved and missed by family and friends. He loved hunting, fishing, clam digging, picking berries and telling jokes and had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include his four sons, Larry of Central Park, Tom and wife, Jeanie of Axford Prairie, Rick and wife, Joyce of Hoquiam and Danny and wife, Peggy of Copalis Beach; eight grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Adelaide, in 2015, an infant son, Dennis; five brothers, Terry, Lee, Pat, Buster and Larry; two sisters, Bea and Bridget and just recently a grandson, Andrew Ward.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
