Many moves later, he ended up in Grays Harbor and spent his adult life working as an electrician for 39 years at the Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Cosmopolis. They have spent the last 60 years living in Hoquiam.

After his retirement, Gilbert and Lois spent years traveling to some of their favorite places including Reno, Nevada. One of his many hobbies, Gilbert loved working with radios. He was an amateur radio operator. His call sign was WA7BLW and he was a member of the Grays Harbor Amateur Radio Club for a number of years. Gilbert was a proud man and has shared a love for his heritage. He was a member of The Sault Ste Marie Tribe of the Chippewa Indians.
