Antonia “Tuni” Tolomei, a lifelong Aberdeen resident, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen at the age of 99. She was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Aberdeen to Marko and Matilda Bebich. She graduated from Weatherwax High School.

Following high school, she married Theodore Maynard, who died a few years later from cancer. On Feb. 14, 1959, she married Joseph Tolomei, who preceded her in death in 2004.

Mrs. Tolomei had been a longtime Harbor Business Owner and developer, which included industries such as retail grocery, logging, housing and property development and ship chandler. She retired in 1985. She was very civic minded and supported community organizations, but the St. Mary’s Catholic Church’s Feed the Hungry program was very near and dear to her heart.

She was a 50+ year member of a local pinochle club and, up to her death, participated in a weekly lunch gathering with her sister and close friends. She enjoyed traveling abroad, entertaining in her home, gardening, taking bus trips to Reno, and visiting local casinos.

Tuni is remembered as the family Matriarch; the most loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Mark Maynard and wife, Bonnie, and Kirk Maynard and wife Lorrie, both of Cosmopolis; sister Millie Cundari of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother, Martin Bebich and sister, Mary Williams, both died previously.

There will be a private family service and burial held prior to the celebration of life, which will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at the Elks Club in Aberdeen, beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church Feed the Hungry Program.
