Volunteers sought for Chehalis Basin salmon habitat restoration and protection review

Volunteers are needed to help evaluate salmon habitat restoration and protection projects in the Chehalis Basin.

Those selected will be part of the Chehalis Basin Lead Entity local review team, which is formed every year to evaluate projects up for review by the state’s Salmon Recovery Funding Board.

Volunteers should have familiarity with the streams and rivers in their local area and represent the perspectives of others in their community.

They should also be able to listen to other peoples’ ideas while constructively sharing their own.

Field tours of project sites are conducted over two days, May 14 and 15. The group gets together to provide feedback and evaluate the projects during a day to be determined in July. All reviewers must be able to participate in the field tours and evaluation day.

To apply, submit letter of interest to the Chehalis Basin’s Watershed Coordinator, kharma@chehalistribe.org. One to two volunteers will be selected by the Habitat Work Group. Learn more online at chehalisleadentity.org.
