Friday morning fire guts Malone home

Multiple agencies responded to a residential structure fire on Mox Chehalis Road in Malone early Friday morning, Nov. 26.

According to a post by Grays Harbor Fire District 5, East Grays Harbor Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire in the 0-100 block of Mox Chehalis Road in Malone at 2:10 a.m. Friday.

The initial report was that a house was on fire with smoke and flames visible. On arrival, fire crews confirmed that the house was fully involved with flames through the roof of a single one-story residential structure.

Fire District 1 (Oakville) and Fire District 12 (McCleary) were requested for mutual aid. The Washington State Patrol closed off access to Mox Chehalis Road at the State Route 12 intersection for firefighter safety and apparatus involved in fighting the fire.

Just after 4 a.m. the fire was out and in overhaul, with crews remaining until 7:13 a.m. when they cleared the scene. There were no reports of fire personnel or other injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
