Willapa Valley’s Huber, Patrick named Columbia Valley All-League First Team

Vikings head coach John Peterson named Coach of the Year; Pe Ell’s Carper also named to top squad

A pair of Willapa Valley seniors were named to the top squad of the 1B Columbia Valley All-League Girls Basketball Team for the 2022-23 season.

Valley’s leading scorer in Grace Huber and floor-game master Brooklyn Patrick were both named to the First Team by league coaches.

Huber led the Vikings with 16.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game to earn a First Team nod for the senior forward.

Patrick was named a first-teamer after filling up the stat sheet by averaging 7.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.6 steals per game this season.

Veteran Valley head coach John Peterson was named the league’s Coach of the Year after guiding Valley to a second-place finish with just two league losses, both to the state’s third-ranked team in Mossyrock.

Pe Ell’s high-scoring standout senior Charlie Carper was also named to the league’s First Team while Mossyrock senior Payton Torrey was named the league’s MVP.
