Grays Harbor Longshore finishes 2-2 at its own wooden bat tourney

Grays Harbor Longshore Hawks, a Senior Babe Ruth baseball team, were gracious hosts for the inaugural Grays Harbor Bash, an American Legion/Senior Babe Ruth wooden bat tournament that concluded on Sunday.

The Longshore Hawks lost their first two games, but returned on Sunday with two wins to salvage their weekend at GAR Park in Westport.

Northwest Blaze, a travel team based out of Bremerton, won the overall title at Olympic Stadium.

On Friday, Longshore lost to MAC Baseball, 6-4. On Saturday, with a chance to get into the main bracket and play at Pioneer Park and Olympic Stadium, Longshore was blown out by Crimson Northwest, 17-2.

A 10-run fifth inning brought the 10-run mercy rule into play.

On Sunday, Longshore was placed into the consolation bracket at GAR Park and rebounded with two wins.

Against the Longview Roots, Longshore rallied with a two-run seventh inning for a 6-5 win.

Marcus Rivera drove in two runs, with Payton Quintanilla, Hunter Hinchen, Carter Jacobson and Walker Dunn each adding an RBI at the plate.

Cody Williams earned the win in relief on the mound, scattering four hits in three innings of work.

Against the Enumclaw Avengers, Longshore took the lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings, then relied upon Dunn and Sean McAllister to hold the Avengers off on the mound.

Dunn picked up the win and McAllister got the work in relief, with both of them combining for a three-hit performance.
