GIRLS PREP SOCCER
Aberdeen 7, Hoquiam 0
Aberdeen rolled over a young Hoquiam squad with a 7-0 win on Tuesday at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam.
The Bobcats (1-1 overall) dominated from start to finish against the Grizzlies (0-1), which had approximately 12-13 players available for the match, most of them underclassmen.
Aberdeen led 4-0 after first-half goals by senior midfielder Lila Ericksen, sophomore forward Shay Dunlap, sophomore midfielder Kennedy Kolodzie and senior co-captain Miley Anderson.
The second half was much the same as Aberdeen added three more goals when Dunlap scored her second of the game, junior midfielder Nataly Barragan scored and senior co-captain Alyssa Yakovich scored on a breakaway goal in the final minutes of the game.
“The girls kept the pressure on, knocked the ball around pretty well and had a lot of fun,” Bobcats head coach Larry Fleming said. “And I want to commend Hoquiam for their hustle and good attitudes throughout the match.”
Freshman Xela Kowoosh and Dunlap shared the goal tending duties and the shutout while Barragan, senior midfielder Valeria Aguilar, and senior midfielder/forward Alyssa Caskey “showed great hustle,” according to Fleming.
Hoquiam hosts Forks at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Aberdeen hosts Tenino at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Elma 3, Kalama 1
Elma got two goals from senior forward Chloe Donais in a 3-1 win over Kalama on Tuesday at Elma High School.
After a scoreless first half that saw Elma come up blank on several solid scoring opportunities, the Eagles (1-1) took the lead on a goal by sophomore forward Anna Servellon off an assist by senior midfielder Maddie Barrera.
After Kalama tied the game on a goal a few minutes later, Donais quickly put Elma back on top with a goal on a low shot off a throw-in by junior midfielder Paiton Flores.
With five minutes left in the contest, Donais got the ball at midfield, drove down the sideline and scored on a 12-yard shot to secure the 3-1 win.
“I like the way we crowded the middle and made it hard for them to play,” Elma head coach Evan Valentine said of his defense.
Valentine said his team was frustrated with the scoreless first half after missing several chances to score, including multiple shots off the post.
“We had a lot of chances. At halftime, I could feel the tension,” he said. “I just had to tell them, ‘Hey, your job is to play. You guys calm down. Let me worry about the other things. … Just relax and focus and the goals will come.’ And they eventually did. … At the end of the game, you could tell there was a mentality shift from franticness to determination.”
The Eagles host W.F. West at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
