Michael “Mike” Dennis Jones passed away surrounded by his family on Sept. 16, 2021.

Michael “Mike” Dennis Jones passed away surrounded by his family on Sept. 16, 2021. He was born on July 9, 1947, in Spokane, Washington to Harvey and Beatrice (Bryant) Jones. The youngest of seven, he is preceded in death by four brothers and his only sister. He is survived by his remaining brother James Jones, and his children Melanie (Robert) Schulte and Keith Jones. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren: Emily Endicott, Kathleen Fischer, Hunter Jones and Saralyn Schulte as well as two great-grandchildren Tommy Endicott and April Schulte, all of Spokane, Washington. His greatest blessing was his family, and he also left many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as friends.

Mike spent his youth along the Washington and Oregon Coast. He joined the Air Force in 1966. He was sent to San Francisco and Vietnam, then Montana. He married Peggy Dianne Quinn in Plummer, Idaho in 1970 and then went to Tacoma. After being sent to Biloxi, Mississippi, where his children were born, he went to Taiwan and then returned home to Spokane. Although he and Dianne divorced, they remained close friends. Mike was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1980 and settled down to raise his kids and eventually help with his granddaughters.

He loved returning to the coast and sitting along the jetties watching the ocean. He shared this love of the ocean with his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastimes include reading, playing cards and games, working puzzles, fishing, and listening to and watching sports. He loved sports of all kinds, but especially enjoyed the Mariners, the Seahawks, the WSU Cougars and the Spokane Indians. He loved his family and even opened his home to his niece Michelle Thibault who helped him in later years. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
