Margaret Jensen

We lost the last of her generation with her death. Margaret Jensen died at Cascade Valley Senior Living in Arlington, Washington on June 24, 2023. She was 101. She was born in Brady, Washington on Oct. 14, 1921. Her father was Peter Nilsen Brandstad and her mother, Ellen Caroline Brandstad.

She met her future husband, Charles Westie Jensen while attending Hoquiam High School. He graduated in 1937 and she in 1939. They were married on Oct. 6, 1940. They bought a house in Hoquiam and she would live there over 70 years. Like many women at that time, she kept the home fires burning while waiting for their husbands to return after serving in the armed services.

Margaret and Chuck had two children, a daughter Beth Ann and 13 years later a son Charles Westie Jr. Margaret loved picking blackberries, clam digging and camping. They traveled all over the United States and parts of Canada visiting relatives. They also went on a two week tour of Europe.

After the death of her husband she went on many trips with the Hoquiam Senior Citizen Travel Group. She had many good friends in this group. Her travel companion later became her sister-in-law, Lauretta (Bergstrom) Rutledge. People that didn’t know them very well thought they were sisters.

Family was everything to her. She spent a lot of time in Arlington with her son Chuck and his family.

She is survived by her daughter Beth Pavletich (Joseph), son Chuck Jensen (Susan), grandchildren: Lynn Ewart, Ken Pavletich (Karen), Kjirsten Morejon (Roger), and Garrett Jensen; great-grandchildren Sophie Pavletich, Lindsey Pavletich, Preston Ewart, Spencer Ewart; great-great-grandchildren Kamilah Morejon and Brayden Jensen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that were very important to her.

There will be no funeral as per her wishes. Memorials may be made to PAWS or a charity of their choice.
