Beloved Farrol Rae Pavola of Montesano, Washington, passed away on Dec. 20, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington at the age of 88.

Beloved Farrol Rae Pavola of Montesano, Washington, passed away on Dec. 20, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington, at the age of 88.

She was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on Jan. 10, 1930, to John and Pyraha “Peggy” Zieman. Farrol graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1948. On Jan. 2, 1951, she married the love of her life Sanfred “Sandy” Pavola.

Farrol worked for Aberdeen Safeway store for five years. In 1970 she and Sandy moved to Alaska, where she worked as a camp cook for a logging company in Icy Bay. They later owned and operated the Hoquiam Woodlawn Grocery Store until Sandy’s passing in 1981. In 1983 she worked for Mrs. Stuart Polson as her personal cook and caretaker until her retirement in 1992.

Farrol later moved to Montesano where she made many dear friends. Following her passion for gardening, she became involved with Master Gardeners where she volunteered many hours in the demonstration vegetable and flower gardens at the Elma fairgrounds. She also was a volunteer for the Montesano Friends of the Library and Retired Seniors Volunteer programs. Farrol enjoyed crafts, embroidery, latch hook, macramé, fishing and camping. She was an excellent cook and will always be remembered for her potato salad and cookies. Farrol loved to play board games and cards at family gatherings and could rarely be beaten at Rummy.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Perry (John), Marcy Pavola and Mike Pavola (Carolyn); her grandchildren, John, Cindy, Autumn, Nate, and Bethany; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. Farrol was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and her son, David.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grays Harbor Master Gardeners or Friends of the Library.

Memorial service will be held on Jan. 19, 2019, Saturday at 1 p.m. at the River of Life Fellowship, 308 West King Street in Aberdeen Washington.

Arrangements are by Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
