Ernestine L. (McMillan) Mendenhall, age 85, a longtime Hoquiam resident, died on Dec. 14, 2021, at Pacific Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hoquiam. Mrs. Mendenhall was born on July 7, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois to Ernest D. and Alice (Cupal) McMillan.

She came to the Harbor at an early age and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1954.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Johnson of Hoquiam; eight grandchildren: Heather Fassnacht of Everett, Kelly Brester of Aberdeen, Alicia Austin of Hoquiam, Joe Wharton of Montesano, Ricky Johnson of Aberdeen, Lacey Leach of Aberdeen, T.J. Wynn of Hoquiam and Matt Doran of Yelm; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Three sons, Dann Fassnacht, Mark Barriault and Jeff Wynn; and a brother, Allen McMillan died previously.

An urn committal will take place at noon Thursday, April 28, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Hoquiam Senior Center located in the Emerson Hotel.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
