Edward Alonzo Cavett Jr. (Eddie) passed away at home in Hoquiam, Wash., March 8, 2018. He was born April 29, 1940, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Edward A. Cavett Sr. and Marguerite Wannassay. He was raised in Amanda Park. He was the youngest with four sisters. In his teens he pursued a boxing career that he was known as “Fast Eddie” and “Left Hook Eddie” in the welter-weight of boxing.
In Eugene, Ore. he met Ella C. Hayter. They moved to Aberdeen, Wash. and married July 19, 1979. He worked in Oregon and Washington. He and his wife managed the Harmony Apartments in Hoquiam, Wash. for over 25 years.
He loved fishing, clam digging, making people laugh and time with family and friends. He was a proud American Indian, boxer, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He leaves behind a son Melvin (Margaret) Pfel or Aberdeen two daughters Janice (Jay) Powell of Aberdeen and Roberta (Bob) Lochman of Alaska; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents Edward A. Cavett Sr. and Marguerite Wannassay, his wife Ella C. Cavett, all four sisters Ann Johnston, Bonnie Drummond, Goldie Denny and Helen Anderson.
Tuesday and Wednesday are viewing at Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
There will be a celebration of life at Eddies home at 408 11th st. Hoquiam, Wash. on Sunday, March 18, from 12 – 3 p.m.
