Donna Marie Thornton

Donna Marie Thornton, age 81, a resident of Aberdeen, died on April 8, 2021, at her home in Aberdeen. Mrs. Thornton was born on Oct. 5, 1939, in Aberdeen, Washington to James W. and Barbara Mae (McFarlin) Crow. She married Wesley Thornton Dec. 19, 1959. They were married for 45 years. Wesley passed away Labor Day 2005.

Mrs. Thornton attended schools in North Beach and Wishkah and graduated from Wishkah in 1957.

She had worked at the Hoquiam Municipal Pool, the shoe department of PayLess House of Values and in later years, was a caregiver. In her younger years, she had been a den mother in Cub Scouts. She enjoyed watching her kids’ and grandchildren’s sporting events.

Donna had been a member of the Grandmother’s Club, Christian Womans Club, and the Eagles Clubs of Hoquiam, Aberdeen and Elma. She also enjoyed spending time at the casinos and playing bingo.

Surviving relatives include three sons: Mark Thornton (Edna) of Hoquiam; Alden Thornton of LaGrande, Oregon; and Kim J. Thornton of Aberdeen; two grandchildren: Patrick (Kelsey) Thornton of Aberdeen and Amanda (Michael) Callahan of Selah, Washington; five great-grandchildren: Roxie and Alixander Thornton of Aberdeen; and Eli, Emma, and Allison Callahan of Selah; a brother, Addis (Kathy) Crow of Riverfront, Washington and two sisters: Edith Thornton of Bridgeport, Washington and Linda (Dave) Schultdt of Olympia, Washington. A son, Ron Thornton preceded her in death 2011.

A celebration of life gathering is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at the Elma Eagles.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam, Washington.
