Bonnie Anne McAllister

Bonnie Anne McAllister, 81, former Hoquiam resident and co-owner of Industrial & Marine Supply in Hoquiam, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Pioneer House Adult Family Home in Puyallup, Washington.

Bonnie was born on March 5, 1940, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky to Colonel Robert J. and Alice (Nagel) McDuff. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia. She graduated from Wakefield High School and then attended Madison College. She worked at the Pentagon before moving to the West Coast.

She married Richard McAllister on Feb. 5, 1961, in Aberdeen and resided in Seattle where she worked for Boeing on the Minuteman Missile Project. In 1963, they moved to Hoquiam and started Industrial & Marine Supply on Levy Street which later became a Kawasaki dealership, in Hoquiam with Rich’s brother Robert McAllister. They divorced in the ’80s. Bonnie retired as a secretary for the Aberdeen Police Department where she worked for 15 years. Before that she worked for Copland & Micheau Law Offices in Aberdeen as a legal secretary for 10 years. During holidays she also helped at Flowers by Esther, a family business in Aberdeen. She would later move to Puyallup in 2016 to be near her son.

Bonnie loved to see the world and traveled to Africa, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Hawaii, Colorado and Alaska. In her younger days she was an avid skier, mountain climber and hiker. She belonged to a local pinochle club and Guess Guessers club and would attend many Washington Husky games, including the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved the outdoors, gardening, animals and birds of all kinds, especially the shorebird migration at Bowerman Basin.

Bonnie is survived by her son Scott (Kelly) McAllister of Edgewood, Washington; two grandchildren: Trais (Samantha) McAllister of Puyallup and Taran McAllister of Ellensburg, Washington; and seven nieces and nephews on the East and West Coasts.

There will be a private family graveside service for Bonnie at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington.
