Anita Gunter

Anita Gunter was born in Vancouver, B.C., on June 9, 1929, to John and Inga Hill. The family moved to Vasa, Finland, and resided there until 1950 when they moved to Aberdeen, Wash. There Anita met and married Raymond Gunter. Together they adopted and raised four children, eventually moving to Portland, Ore.

A homemaker, family was very important to her and she had a hand in raising her grandchildren. She was an active member of her church for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Janet Kumball. She is survived by her children, Michael Gunter and Jeffery Gunter of Tigard, Ore., Christine Billett of Hillsboro, Ore., and Suzanne Hanifin of Portland, Ore., as well as 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
