Twibell honored by Rotary

Longtime Aberdeen Rotary member Doug Twibell was honored last week at the Rotary Log Pavilion for an achievement five decades in the making.

Rotary has a longstanding tradition of celebrating club members who attend each weekly meeting with a perfect attendance award.

While many members strive to earn the award for one year, Doug was honored for 50 consecutive years of perfect attendance. Doug’s son, Keith Twibell presented the award and recalled some interesting family vacations as a child that were planned around visiting Rotary clubs so his father could retain his perfect attendance.

Doug also shared memories of a meeting at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

Twibell joined in 1970 and has been with the Aberdeen Rotary Club since 1974. He is the owner of Fern Hill Funeral Home and has been in the industry for more than 60 years. He is married to Jan Twibell and has a dog named Rusty.
