Tom Jensen elected chairman of state hospital district board

Grays Harbor Community Hospital CEO Tom Jensen has been elected chairman of the board for The Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts, the trade association for the state’s 62 hospital districts.

Jensen was elected for the 2020 term by his peers and he has previously served as treasurer and vice chairman.

Since joining Community Hospital in 2010, Jensen has led the hospital through major economic challenges and led the hospital through a transformation that included key legislative successes, and major changes suggested by consultants. He helped pass a law to increase the hospital reimbursement, developing cost based Rural Health Clinics as well as a State Budget Proviso.

Under his leadership, new services have been brought to the Harbor including 3D Mammography with Smart Curve and Cardiac Care, two resources in which community members had to leave the area to receive.

“Having Tom involved in the lobbying and direction for Public Hospitals statewide is tremendous for our organization,” said Michael Bruce, Board Chair PHD#2. “His dedication to health excellence is indisputable and he is highly regarded amongst his peers from around Washington.”
