Grays Harbor County 2017 candidate filings

Jack Thompson going for fifth term with Port commission, O.S. council candidate pool growing

Democrat Ken Albert, who was appointed by county commissioners to take over the county treasurer position after it was vacated by the retirement of Ron Strabbing — who held the position for 35 years — has filed his candidacy for the position.

Other notable filings include Jack Thompson for the Position 2 Port Commissioner position he has held for nearly a quarter- century. If successful, this would be his fifth six-year term.

There is also competition in the Hospital District 2 Position 1 race, pitting incumbent Robert Torgerson against attorney John Farra, who has been critical of the district in the past.

Meanwhile, a flurry of candidates filed for a number of Ocean Shores City Council seats.

Below is the current list of candidate filings for the 2017 Aug. 1 primary. Unless otherwise noted the positions are nonpartisan.
