Calls to local emergency service providers

Teen busted for early morning crime spree

An intoxicated 17-year-old west Aberdeen man was arrested for stealing a computer and breaking into Aberdeen Honda and a private residence early Monday morning.

The initial call came to police at 4:19 a.m., where a man believed someone had broken into the garage of his residence in the 1800 block of Pacific Avenue. Another officer heading to that scene contacted a young man carrying a computer CPU tower.

During questioning, the man dropped the computer and fled on foot, right toward the officers who were investigating the initial call. After cutting through several yards and jumping a fence, police found the suspect in a residence in the 300 block of Conger Street. Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Cosmopolis police set up a perimeter, during which a call came in from Aberdeen Honda, where a door had been kicked in, the office ransacked and a computer stolen.

Officers gained permission to enter the house and found the young man hiding in his mother’s room. Police said the suspect smelled of intoxicants but showed them the food he had stolen from the garage. The suspect was transported to the Aberdeen Police juvenile holding cell, and later transferred to the Grays Harbor County Juvenile Detention Facility for holding. He was booked into custody for residential burglary, second-degree burglary (commercial burglary), obstructing a law enforcement officer and minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
