Cosmopolis driver injured when vehicle hits tree on 101

State Patrol investigators say he was driving too fast for the conditions

A 29-year-old Cosmopolis man was injured when the 2000 Honda CRV he was driving southbound on Highway 101 about five miles south of Raymond left the roadway and hit a tree Thursday morning, according to a State Patrol report.

The car crossed the center line, crossed the northbound lane, entered the ditch and struck a tree. The vehicle was a total loss and the driver was transported to Willapa Harbor Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved but have said they believe he was driving too fast for the early morning road conditions, according to the report.
