Pizza with pizzazz that won’t break the bank!

Local restaurant celebrates one year of homemade, affordable, family-friendly dining

Bringing Cascade Pizza to Elma wasn’t easy, but Stuart Schreiner played the long game. Delicious pizzas can’t be cooked in an instant, and it turned out his family restaurant needed a little extra cooking time too.

“It took a while to find the right building at the right time,” he says. “But Elma really needed an affordable family restaurant with food made from scratch.”

Schreiner is no stranger to the pizza game, having run a few restaurants two decades ago. When he opened his doors in January 2019 he was incredibly grateful to have the community’s support, but the opening didn’t go exactly as planned.

“Our ovens weren’t working right — the thermostat wasn’t working in one, and the other wasn’t working at all. We opened the doors and had two-hour waits,” Schreiner says. “But we’ve perfected the system and made a lot of corrections since then.”

So fresh they don’t have a freezer

Schreiner uses top-quality ingredients for his pizzas, even if it cuts into his profits.

“We use top-grade pepperoni, sausage and Canadian bacon, even though we pay a little more for it. We use a special blend of cheese with a bit of smoked buffalo that makes it nice and creamy.”

Every 18-inch pizza in Schreiner’s kitchen gets a pound of cheese before it’s sent to the brick oven. A French Fork Mixer ensures your Cascade Pizza crust is deliciously flaky when it gets to your plate.

“Everything we have here is fresh — we don’t even have a freezer! We make our sauces from scratch and chop fresh veggies every day,” Schreiner says. “Tami is our in-house baker. She makes all our desserts from scratch, including the New York cheesecake.”

Doing it for the community

Schreiner feels incredibly grateful to the community for supporting Cascade Pizza through their first year.

“We’ve had such a warm reception from our neighbors,” Schreiner says.

Cascade Pizza strives to keep their prices low so families can afford to eat out. The 150-seat restaurant has plenty of room for the whole family, and the 60-seat banquet hall can be reserved free of charge. “All you have to do is buy our pizza,” Schreiner says. The restaurant has a beer and wine license, and wings, pasta salad and calzones too.

Don’t have time to eat in? Cascade Pizza offers take-out, home-baked and delivery to Montesano, Elma, McCleary, parts of Oakville, Porter and Malone.

“We have a very professional, courteous and clean staff. Everyone from our delivery drivers to our manager Mike Webb who’s been with me since Day One.”
