Hoquiam swears in Chief for a Day

Loric Colgrove was sworn in as Chief for a Day during the July 25 Hoquiam Council meeting. He took a special “oath of office” to include promising to wear his uniform proudly while he has a great time with his law enforcement friends and his family as he fulfills his duties.

Loric and his family were set to tour Hoquiam’s City Hall, Fire Department and Police Department, and to take a tugboat ride into Grays Harbor from the Hoquiam riverfront. He attended the Push Rods car show and will ride in the lead patrol car at the start of the Loggers Playday Parade in September.

The official Chief for a Day celebration will be hosted by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission at the police academy in Burien on Aug. 16. The event is open to the public.
