Author to sign books about construction of Olympic Highway

The Museum of the North Beach is hosting a book signing on Saturday, July 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. for Wilderness Roads: Stories of the Olympic Highway by author David Emmick.

David’s grandfather, Edward Emmick, was one of the engineers involved with the challenging job of constructing the Olympic Highway through miles of wilderness. This 377-page soft cover documents stories, maps and numerous photographs of the highway construction. The museum shared information in our files and provided scans of several incredible Dale Northup photographs for his research.

This was one of the last wildernesses in the United States. Stories of some early pioneer families and the development of the area are included. The book sells for $25 and will be available locally at the Museum.

If you would like a signed copy but cannot attend the book signing, send your check made out to MBTS for $30.68 (includes sales tax and Media shipping) and mail to P.O. Box 231, Moclips, WA 98562.

The Museum is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 360-276-4441 or email kelly@moclips.org.
