Father had storied military service

My father, Lt. Colonel Rhys Corbett Wood, was one of only 138 Alamo Scouts in the U.S. Army between 1943 and 1945 — The Alamo Scouts (U.S. 6th Army Special Reconnaissance Unit).

He trained guerilla fighters and led missions in New Guinea and Philippines. He was captured twice and escaped each time, returning to combat until the end of the war. He later fought in the Korean conflict and retired at Fort Lawton, Washington after the Vietnam War.
