Roy James Rockwell, 74 years of age, died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Elma, Wash.

Roy James Rockwell, 74 years of age, died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Elma, Wash. He was born on April 16, 1943, in Aberdeen, Wash., to James and Audrey B. (DePew) Rockwell.

He was raised and attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1961. That same year he married Bobbie Eby in Aberdeen and they were later divorced.

In the mid 1960s he was married to Rose Russell in Aberdeen and they later divorced.

He served with the United States National Guard from Nov. 24, 1965, to Sept. 1, 1966.

He worked as a firefighter and EMT for the Aberdeen Fire Department for some 20 years. An injury forced him to change professions and he became a patient care technician at the Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen for several years.

He had a passion for classic cars, was a member of the Pushrods, enjoyed working on cars, was the original wheeler – dealer and liked “snow birding” to Arizona. He always had a heart for the betterment of the community.

He is survived by his son, Kerry Dee Broten (Carolyn) of Montesano, Wash.; his daughter, Rene Garcia of Neah Bay, Wash.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Beck of Oregon, Mateo Garcia of Neah Bay and Codi Jo Broten in Wyoming; his brothers, Bruce Rockwell of Sequim, Wash. and Charles Rockwell of Aberdeen, Wash. and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. A gathering of family and friends will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Aberdeen Elks.
